Samiyah Zawawi
Samiyah Zawawi, M.Ed, CCC, RP is a Registered Psychotherapist. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Counselling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Ottawa.
Samiyah provides counselling in English, Arabic and Spanish to adults and youth –in both individual and group settings. She has extensive experience working with refugees and newcomers, as well as individuals who have experienced trauma, anxiety related challenges, depression, identity loss, migration, grief, and attachment based issues. Samiyah further draws from various narrative and attachment informed therapeutic techniques while incorporating expressive art mediums when appropriate.
Coming from a multi-cultural background, Samiyah has always been surrounded by different cultures and has come to appreciate and learn about the unique history and narrative that each individual carries. Samiyah works collaboratively with clients from diverse populations and draws from her own lived experiences and cultural understandings. She values creating a safe environment where clients can build self-awareness and capacity to overcome challenges.
