Katherine Marr

Katherine Marr is a psychotherapist and yoga therapist who works primarily in private practice in Ottawa, at both the Village Clinic and Prana Shanti Yoga Centre. She is also a yoga and meditation teacher, dog-owner, nature-lover, and a strong advocate for social change. While her background and her focus are mainly in counselling psychology & mental health, Katherine is fascinated by everything related to the human mind, body, and spirit.  ​
Katherine  has furthered her studies in yoga therapy, mindfulness practices, body-centered approaches to trauma therapy, and Buddhist teachings. She now integrates these practices and their teachings in her counselling work with clients. Her goals as a therapist and teacher are to help people heal, thrive, and live wholehearted lives filled with meaning and connection.

Katherine completed her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Vancouver, BC. She is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She is also an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) and a Certified Yoga Therapist in the Krishnamacharya Tradition of Yoga. For nearly 15 years, Katherine worked in a variety of social services across Canada, including residential mental health treatment facilities, schools, community-based intervention programs, substance use treatment programs, community health centres, and more. She continues to be actively involved in the social services sector in Ottawa as a mental health consultant and as the Founder of a not-for-profit initiative aimed at making wellness education accessible for all, called Ottawa Yoga Outreach. She is also a guest faculty member with the Ottawa School of Embodied Yoga Therapy.
 
As a clinical associate of the Glebe Institute, her work with insured clients is supervised by Registered Counselling Psychologist Dr. David Paré, member #4073 with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

  • Depression, anxiety, and other mood complaints
  • Emotional trauma
  • Unhealthy lifestyle habits, including excessive consumption through addictions
