Bonney is a registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and is certified with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She provides counselling services to insured clients under the supervision of registered Counselling Psychologist Dr. David Paré, covered by most third party insurance plans.
The focus of her private practice is general counselling and psychotherapy with individuals, couples and families She has a Masters degree in Counselling from the University of Ottawa, where training and ongoing supervision have been from a Narrative Therapy focus. She has additional training in Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Emotion Focused Couple Therapy, Counselling Supervision, and Smoking Cessation as well as Sand Tray Therapy. She is a registered hatha yoga teacher.
Bonney brings a holistic, gentle, playful approach to therapy. Her career began as a paediatric nurse working with sick and dying children and their families. She did further training and worked for 14 years as a Nurse Practitioner in community health practice with First Nations, Inuit, and refugee families. She has provided general counselling and support group facilitation with women experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety and family violence. She is very involved in ongoing professional development and peer supervision in narrative reflecting team and sand tray therapy work. Currently, she is specializing in health coaching and group facilitation with cancer survivors and caregivers.
