Narrative Practice Group II is underway!
This year we decided to combine beginner and advanced level participants in the same group. Participants include social workers from the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre and Woman's Breast Health Centre, family therapists, members of the mental health team at Petawawa Armed Forces, as well as a recent graduate from Carleton School of Social Work.
In spite of combining the 2 groups, we were not able to accommodate everyone who showed interest. Next year we are hoping to run 2 groups. The groups will run monthly, October through May. If you are interested in either the beginners or advanced group, contact the facilitator, Christine Novy: christine.novy @sympatico.ca
Comments from last year's participants:
"What inspires me most about the group is the wealth and variety of clinical experiences that each group member brings to our meetings. Even though our evening meetings make for long working days we always seem to leave re-energized and looking forward to the next time".
"What I appreciate most about our group is the opportunity it provides to reflect on our work and interventions within the intimacy of our small group collective. We are becoming better listeners and better at posing questions that help our clients discover solutions to their suffering and life dilemmas".
"It has been encouraging to connect with like-minded people who envision an empowering and transparent approach to clinical practice that rejects the notion of pathologizing people".
Facilitator: Christine Novy, MA, CCC, is a clinical and training associate of The Glebe Institute. Currently she collaborates with a variety of health care organizations within the Capital region to promote creative, narrative approaches to personal and community health.
