EXCITING NEWS: 2011-12 Narrative Therapy Study Group (NTSG) is starting again in September!
This is the sixth year of NTSG, and we have evolved into a self-directed study and clinical practice group, facilitated by Lynn Bloom and Noah Spector. Our philosophy and structure are founded in Narrative Therapy and related postmodern approaches, but we remain hospitable to other ideas and practices. Our two hour group includes one hour of theoretical discussion, and one hour of practice with definitional ceremony or case discussion, using a reflecting team. Guest facilitators are invited periodically to focus on specific topics and to guide our learning.
Last year, highlights included sessions by David Paré, Marc Leger, Francine Titley and Sue Johnson. Sue joined us to discuss the relationship between Narrative Therapy and EFT. This year, topics being considered include: Allan Wade and Response- Based Practice; Men Who Abuse – The Work of Alan Jenkins; Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness and Narrative Therapy and Feminist Practice. Participants include social workers from the Ottawa Hospital, counsellors and family therapists, clinical psychologists, a doctoral candidate in Counselling at Ottawa U., as well as one MSW student from Carleton School of Social Work. We have a few spaces still available for clinicians with knowledge of the basic principles of Narrative Therapy. If you are interested in joining this dynamic study group, please email Lynn Bloom at:
