Lynn Bloom
Lynn F. Bloom is a clinical social worker, researcher and community organizer whose whole career has been in the area of rehabilitation.
For the past 14 years, she has worked at the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre, with people who live with spinal cord injuries and MS. She is an adjunct research professor at Carleton University School of Social Work, and is a clinical tutor at the Ottawa University Medical School.
Lynn initially studied narrative therapy at St. Paul’s and for the past four years has participated in narrative therapy training sessions at The Glebe Institute. Lynn uses narrative therapy concepts to inform her clinical practice and teaching. She is currently exploring methods of introducing collaborative practice to clinical supervision for hospital social workers.
Lynn has an interest in narrative medicine, and has considered ways of conveying narrative therapy ideas to physicians and other health care practitioners. Hoping to bring arts, narrative, music and other creative expression to health care teaching, Lynn is working with others to develop the Inter-professional Learning Centre for the Arts and Humanities in Health Care here in Ottawa.
